“Native Tongue” at the Community Table

Food can unite and bring positive impact into Chicago communities. Through creating gourmet recipes with affordable ingredients that can be found in markets, corner stores, or supermercados, Native Tongue magazine has the ability to appeal to two audiences: “in-community” which refers to people from neighborhoods that are affected by low-socioeconomic status and food deserts, and “out-of-community” which refers to people who have easier access and accessibility to grocery stores and food fans looking for new recipes. This duality allows us to create content that is applicable to both audiences, and helps bridge the gap between the two sides of Chicago through food.
