“Th Puerto Rican Agenda” at the Community Tent

October 29 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

The Puerto Rican Agenda is a non-profit organization of community leaders — medical professionals, academics, educators, social service agency executives and elected and appointed City leaders, and many others — that has been active here on the northwest side for more than twenty years.  Based in Humboldt Park, the roots and efforts of the group reach into Logan Square (and other neighborhoods) as well. In response to the destruction caused to the island homeland by Hurricane Maria last month, the PRA has organized an Indiegogo campaign, Pallets and Planes, to provide relief supplies. Their efforts have raised more than $150,000 and sent two donated United Airlines aircraft loaded with pallets of emergency supplies to the Island, delivered directly to municipalities in need.    Representatives of the Puerto Rican Agenda will be at the Market Sunday to report to our community about the situation in Puerto Rico, the plans to help evacuate and shelter homeless victims of the hurricane here in Chicago, and to solicit contributions for the continuing relief effort.  Take advantage of this opportunity to get first hand information about the extent of the disaster and how the relief effort is going; visit these neighbors of ours at the community tent on Sunday.
