What Happens To The Leftovers?

Have You Ever Wondered What Happens to the Food Left Over From the Farmers Market? Wonder no more!

Zero PercentAt the Indoor Market, volunteers from Zero Percent come to the Market each Sunday to collect donations of left over or excess foods from vendors.  Zero Percent is a food recovery organization in Chicago that collects surplus food from grocers, restaurants, caterers, and farmers’ markets and transports it directly to local nonprofits. Besides simply saving good food and getting it to folks who need it, we also help companies claim tax savings from their donations, track their losses in detail, and inform their patrons of their commitment to zero waste.

Food Donation BoxAt the Outdoor Market, volunteers from Elijah’s Pantry, a ministry of St. Luke’s Church come to the Market each Sunday to collect donations of left over or excess food from vendors.

If you would like to help out with a food or cash donation Elijah’s Pantry is located at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 2649 N.Francisco Av. and is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 -11:00am
